Nigel is a chartered engineer and has provided mechanical engineering consulting services for 30 years with a particular focus on the planning, design and delivery of facilities in the science, research, education and health sectors.

Having led or contributed to significant projects in Australia and the United Kingdom, Nigel has gained a broad appreciation of all stages of a projects’ journey from initial functional briefing to user transition and operation and the critical components, considerations and roles that are key to achieving a positive outcome.

A key part of Nigels’ design approach is open and collaborative engagement with all stakeholders to understand the science, vision and key drivers that influence the function and form of a facility and he has presented on the process and importance of integrating engineering services.

As an extended role, he has led integrated scenario and performance testing on site to check for operational readiness before ‘live’ risks are present and considers this process to be an essential (but often overlooked) element of a project.
