"I enjoy solving complex engineering problems with innovative and technology driven solutions that are cost effective, sustainable and meet our clients needs."

James has always been a ‘creator’. Since a young age, design, photography, and drawing have been a source of interest and inspiration, reflected in his work today. It is rare to see James in a design meeting without his notebook, sketching out ideas and solutions to complex problems. In the past, James has worked in a range of industries from a chocolate factory to designing websites for businesses, the most exciting being a robotics company.  In later years, his interest in digital and technology has continued and where opportunities exist within projects, he looks to integrate the latest digital advances to improve workflow and the quality of deliverables.

With over 20 years of experience in the engineering industry, James is a Director in our Sydney office.  His past project experience has provided the opportunity to design unique solutions for some of the most complicated design projects locally and globally.

James has worked on several complex projects at ADP that have been delivered to a very high standard, incorporating highly sustainable design solutions and coordinated design thinking. A great example is Stage 3A of Castle Towers Shopping Centre which saw a major team effort over many stages, delivering a new marketplace and food court connecting to the Castle Hill Metro Station.

As ADP’s NSW Education Sector Lead, James leads our design team in the delivery of high-quality learning spaces across our projects in the public and private schools, TAFE and tertiary sector. He led the recently completed ACU Blacktown Campus, transforming an existing 1980’s office building into a modern university campus. Currently, he is working with our team and a major tertiary client to develop an electrification roadmap to 2050 to eliminate gas from their portfolio of assets across multiple sites.

James is passionate about incorporating low carbon technology and net zero carbon pathways into our projects wherever possible. He believes in providing clients with common sense and cost-effective solutions to pay for themselves in operation. One example is Oran Park Retail, where we delivered an embedded network tender process to provide excellent value for money to our client, including a 1.5 MW solar system, EV chargers and options for heat pumps.

Before ADP, James spent the first 6 years of his engineering career with Mars Confectionary, seven years with Arup in both London and Sydney and spent time working with WSP in London.
